After-Workout Plans

When you do an intense workout, it’s important to make sure that you take the correct steps following it to make sure you maintain and preserve as much ‘gains’ as possible. Here are three things I do to make sure that I get the most out of my pump, after I finish up.

  1. Prioritize sleep. When you work out, you strain your muscles. If you don’t give them the time to recover (sleeping), you won’t be able to grow much muscle. The other major benefit to this is psychic. When you’re tired, it’s a lot harder to keep up a habit.
  2. Avoid cold-plunges. You don’t necessarily want the swelling and strain associated with your muscles to go down immediately. Cold plunges are good in general, but not right after a workout.
  3. Eat something nourishing. When your body just finished working out, your body getting more food is telling it that the workout is over and it can relax. This is helpful for improving muscle synthesis, and doesn’t deplete as much glycogen.
