What does “having it all” mean to you? Is it attainable?
There is only so much time in a day, and being excellent at one thing often precludes success in other areas. It’s not as if professional basketball players work at the top of IBM. It’s not as if IBM executives make it to the top of fashion week. It’s not as if fashion week models can play golf well and so-on.
So, being the best at everything is a non-starter. However, you can still be more or less successful objectively, even if not in every area.
I think a big part of success is niching down, and deciding what you want to be best in the world at. For instance, it’s rare that someone can be the best lawyer, but maybe being the best probate lawyer for NY state is more attainable, and occasionally more lucrative. I would say one clear part of success is being great at what you do. It’s important that what you do has purpose for similar reasons.
A second part of success is finding community and relationships. If you have no one you can confide in or talk to, I’d say your mental health is probably in the toilet. Having the mental wellness to be at peace is important, and a lot of that is predicated on relationships.
A third key part of success is physical wellness. Being sick can preclude a lot of joy, so it’s important to keep yourself in reasonably good shape.
I think if having everything is only meeting all physical and psychological needs, then yes it is possible.
