Always On

When I see successful people, I notice they all have a workaholic trait that makes it easy for them to keep returning to what they’re doing, pacing themselves, while often going 7 days a week, for an indeterminate amount of hours.

This makes sense! Whatever you do on the weekend tends to be free because most competitors aren’t willing to do so. This means you’re able to be exceptional, even if you take a lot more breaks during the week.

Why limit yourself to a super hardcore schedule when you can constantly be improving, iterating upon what’s in front of you.

The path to brilliance is in large part a game of attrition. When you see what others do wrong and pay attention, it’s possible to keep going stronger, and eat their market share.

There’s this mistaken belief that competition is roughly equal, and that the losers are eaten up by everyone. However, it’s more likely the case that the industry leader tends to take an outsized bite.

Knowing this, when you can push yourself to the top of a crowded field, you’ll continue to multiply.
