A lot of our ugliest parts of our personality exist when we think about what’s wounded us. We try and mask that, or prevent the way we’ve felt so we never experience it again.
Sometimes it hurts when we build our empires. They’re founded on what it was when we were vulnerable and weak. And, in a sense we still are. Our inner turmoil is the fuel we add to our fire, allowing us to succeed.
The idea of having no enemies, being present and free is lauded, and for good reason. However, the sheer inexhaustibility of the sufferings of success makes for a stronger chemical reaction.
Occasionally, the best thing that can ever happen for your dreams is you’re kicked in the balls. You’re feeling, suffering, refusing to look rationally at the situation and you pour your heart into your work. Sometimes it’s great, sometimes it’s not, but it’s built, it’s done.
