Nerd Up

In the past, nerdiness was viewed with a certain derision. Only nerds liked marvel or played DND while the cool kids smoked weed, touched grass, and socialized.

We’re all nerds now. While the quintessential quarterback still probably gets disproportionate action, there’s an infinite amount of niches with infinite opportunities for social clout. This is fundamentally incredible. Now, one doesn’t have to search far and wide for someone with similar interests.

Like hyperpop music? Libertarianism? Potted plants? There’s a vibrant community waiting for you to join.

There’s an odd trade off though since we have limitless access to people. We don’t have to up our ante, we don’t have to yuck our yum. Because of this, we fundamentally haven’t had to practice our skills or try as hard as we retreat into our communities.
