How do you plan your goals?
The idea behind SMART goals makes sense, you want to make sure that your goals are Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Relevant, and Time-Bound, but even people who know the framework fail to apply it to the more abstract goals in one’s life.
This is why I think we can go beyond the basics of SMART and also be super in how we apply them.
Here’s how you can super-apply these goals. First, think about the different areas of life you want to influence.
Some that I think come to mind are: Physical Health, Mental Health, Financial Success, Social Success, Spiritual Success.
At this point, you want to break down what you’re trying to do, and how you’re trying to achieve the goals you’re setting. This way, you have a standard on which to evaluate the things in your life that you want to do.
You also want to look critically at timelines. Is this really a six month goal, or can it be done sooner? Does achieving one area’s success make another’s inevitable?
Thinking through what you want to do and who you want to be can play a big role in letting you blossom into who you are.
