My car has been out of commission for the last week or so. Instead of being able to do much of anything, I’ve been stuck at my place, looking for something fun to do. I called my friend who does a fair amount of auto-repair and he convinced me that I could change my own battery. After all, places like Autozone change batteries free of charge.
I meandered down to AutoZone this morning and inquired about which battery my car’s model supports. Then, I bought the battery and installed it in the afternoon thanks to my handy-dandy wrench.
As of right now, I’ve put together and taken apart dishwashers, VCRs, computers, and have done flat tire fixing and battery replacement. As I’ve become more handy, I start to feel a greater sense that I can do the things that are in front of me if I take the time to figure things out.
Generally, a lot of things can be done if you’re willing to take the time to do them. Although I’m surely not going to make tons of money replacing cars’ batteries, it’s a good reminder that you can have high agency across the board to get things done, and while it can be helpful to rely on other people, you often don’t need to.
