The Human Need for Shonin Anime

I’ve watched Hunter X Hunter and Baki gleefully. Ditto for Death Note and Jujutsu Kaisen. In general, anime speaks to a large swath of teenage to adult males showcasing the values of friendship and idealizing a slow journey to power and notoriety.

Most of Western media isn’t aimed at young guys, which is why I think dudes turn to anime. If there’s little to no positive representations of young men, it’s hard to understand the different ways to become an acceptable adult.

Showing guys acceptable behaviors encouraging them to spend more time outdoors and seeing the beauty and interesting-ness of the world is good, and the more of it the better.

Plus, as someone with aesthetic sensibilities that mostly match things teenage guys like, I want more shows I’d find interesting to watch.
