Rest and Relaxation

Each week, I try to take an entire day off to do things fun for myself. Today, my sister and I went to NYC to check out the 9/11 memorial, walk over the Brooklyn Bridge, and eat Italian food. Between bitching about our roommates, telling each other jokes, and walking more than 10 miles, I made my Saturday special.

One problem with the grindset mindset is that it’s hard to sustain it over the long term because you need to cut out other things that are fun but ultimately low impact. All or nothing thinking can come back to bite you if you think you’re going to be able to succeed all at once, instead of seeing success as a marathon.

When you train for a marathon, you don’t do the hardest runs every day. Sometimes you take days off to let yourself recover. This recovery can be key to spontaneous discovery. Accepting the discovery requires giving yourself the space and distance you need to succeed.
