High agency behavior is acting in a way that allows you to broadly achieve your goals and be influential. It’s relentless, strategic, and focused.
In order to become highly able, you should start by creating track records for yourself. I know that when I set goals, I get them done well and consistently. The act of writing can help contextualize what to do next, and it serves as a scorecard for proving that I can perform. If you know that your goal is a composition of three separate goals, trying to understand it in more detail, how much time it will take, and what it entails are all hugely important.
Next, you’ll want to ground yourself with less people. The less people you feel the need to please and the easier it is to do so. Moreover, the more you make the people you want to please highly successful and bought into your vision and the pieces come together to allow you to conform to high expectations.
Finally, you’ll want to acclimate yourself to hardship, and make sure as you progress that you don’t immediately reward yourself. This is important because you’ll grow quickly but also go through dips. If you don’t feel dependent on great external conditions, your performance can survive even when stuff goes wrong.
