Insight Dealing for Fun & Profit

Tim Ferriss wrote a book about how he started a supplement company that was profitable enough to where he could buy back large swaths of his time. The revolutionary idea being that you can treat time as a currency, one that you can’t get back, and challenging the idea behind ‘retirement’.

Now, Tim works full-time and still does a host of interesting things, whether it’s talking to Neil Strauss, writing at least 2 crappy pages a day, interviewing experts across a wide array of topics, or encouraging us to try AG1. The flexibility to decide what to do is derivative of being a noteworthy expert.

When one becomes a noteworthy expert, there’s a lot of freedom that comes with it. The question is the viability, and the lag time. I don’t really like social media (or I love it too much, pick your poison). The resulting fact makes it so that the book that I’m in the process of writing isn’t receiving the love and or marketing or advertising that it would otherwise deserve.

When I get close to finishing it, I want to see if I can hire a social media intern to try and sell my book organically – and help me get more clients, because I’m busy with other projects, but that’s at least 6 months away.

Currently, I’m in the process of finishing my masters degree and getting this draft done while working. Most important is finishing the master’s degree because that’s going to be a topic for a future book. Least important is work because although a steady income is nice, my long-term goals don’t revolve around full-time-employment in the traditional sense.
