Newark Airport, How I Love You, Let Me Count The Ways

There’s a lot of airports in the United States, and also the NY metro area. Many more convenient to get to as well. But, recently, I’ve been going to Newark when I need to travel, and price plays a big role because I’m between jobs at the moment.

Every single time I try and get to the Newark airport, I take a wrong turn somewhere, in large part because of Google Maps, yet also because going to the Newark airport requires navigating through several random towns in New Jersey between highways. A wrong turn can take you 10-15 minutes out of your way, as you try to get back on track.

Another enticing feature of the Newark airport is the administration. Last Friday night, there were 3 security check lines open despite an estimated 500 people in line. The special sauce of the TSA was put on full display. On this same line, there were several people trying to cut this line, but going the wrong way, while others were trying to light up in anticipation of taking their shoes off.

I always feel strong emotions, rushes of excitement and possibly dread when traveling out of New Jersey. I wonder if others feel the same.
